Mentoring Client Transformation • Mastering the Annual Review

But what do you DO with clients? Help them master life – including the corporate annual review.

Here’s a story.

She’s a mentoring client, who’s had a kundalini awakening, is working a corporate job, and is focused on integrating her awakening and medium-term transitioning into running her own business.

Her annual review was coming up, and she’d just made an error at work because ‘her heart wasn’t really in the job’ anymore.

She’s feeling stressed, anxious and fearful about the annual review.

Our call begins with her talking about this stress, fear and anxiety, and why she might be feeling it and where it’s coming from and and and…

Yup, she’s in her head.

I invite her to pause
and to notice
what’s present
in her body
right now.

Forget the stories.

What’s there?

I ask her:

‘What would happen if you were honest in your annual review about your desire to transition career in the medium term?’

She’s in her body now and feels the answer.

Her face lights up.

‘It would bring harmony…’

She stays in her body and checks in deeper.

‘I feel relief – the stress has gone away!’

Words don’t capture what happened in this moment, because it was an energetic shift – it was the energy behind my question and her ability to receive that energy that transmuted and dissolved the mind-generated stress.

The night before her annual review I voice messaged her with explicit instructions on how to prepare and how to orientate in the meeting.

My suggestion was that she lead the space – through her heart and her energy.

She followed my instructions and did exactly that.

‘Everything worked marvellously! I couldn’t believe that I had that kind of talk with my superior! I followed through with everything we spoke about. Your message on WhatsApp helped more than I could have imagined!’

It went so well that her superior said to her that in 50 years of business, he had never had anyone speak to him with that kind of energy and presence. He got right behind her, and where she’s going, and he invited her to give the same speech to the CEO later that day – which she did.

‘I was really honest and stood my ground gracefully and powerfully. He … pushed (for what he wanted) … and I held firm and explained my reasons. He ended up agreeing with me and said ‘I respect your decisions’.’

This is a younger woman, in a less powerful role, speaking to the CMO and CEO of her company about her needs and desires as an employee.

She spoke from her heart.
She spoke from her centre.
She spoke from truth.
She discovered her power – real power.

Not the kind of power that comes from status, roles, gender, race, money, or looks.

But the kind that comes from owning your desires and speaking from your heart.

As she said to me in our session today:

‘I realized that when you speak from the heart it’s hard for people to be resentful and resistant to it.’

This is true.

And this is what I do – I support my clients to get clear on their desires, to learn how to orientate to awareness, so they can act from the heart with clarity and courage.

If you need that kind of support in your life – email me, let’s talk.

Let me support you too.
