The news cycle right now is a lot. The Epstein files dropping. The bombing of Iran. A leadership style that seems to operate entirely without conscience. Other people’s outrage and Epstein files reactions.
If you’ve been glued to your phone, oscillating between disbelief and fury, you’re not alone. Most people right now are somewhere on the spectrum between numb and absolutely losing it.
And while the outrage makes complete sense — because what is happening IS outrageous — there’s a problem because outrage without direction doesn’t change anything.
It just burns you out, keeps you reactive, and hands your power straight over to the very people and systems you can’t stand.
So what do you actually do with all of this? Here’s what I know, and what one of my clients just discovered.
When the Epstein Files dropped, and Trump & Netanyahu started bombing Iran…
None of this was surprising to me, in the slightest. Not even Deepak Chopra’s appearance in the files. I’d long ago tracked the nature of Chopra.
So there was no outrage, no Epstein files reaction, because all of it was already known.
I mean, duh. This is how one layer of the world works. How it’s always worked.
It was apparent to me when I left high school, particularly once I studied journalism and did work placements which often involved interviewing older men, or working alongside older male journalists.
And not just men either. I’d had enough encounters with older women that were problematic in different ways to recognise that patriarchy/capitalism/colonialism infected all genders.
So yeah, no outrage, but rather, a doubling down of who I BE and what I radiate into the field to counteract this. I don’t react, I respond, and I focus on BEING the change.
Case in point. My sphere of influence includes the people I coach and teach.
Yesterday I was working with a client, our last session on a three month journey. She’s a sensitive, attuned, caring human living in the USA who has been deeply affected by the actions of her country over the last few years, and particularly the last three months.
It has been causing her suffering, as she’s realising that the world she thought existed is different to the world that’s being revealed now.
The clash of belief and reality has caused anger and outrage and all the things.
One of the core teachings of Joy Rebel Tantra is that the world ‘out there’ doesn’t cause our suffering. Yes, it can 100% cause PAIN – whether emotional, mental or physical.
But suffering is ALWAYS mind-generated. It’s created by our assumptions, beliefs and thoughts ABOUT what is happening.
This is a challenging teaching to absorb and embody because it places responsibility for suffering (not pain) within our heart & hands.
WE are the ones responsible for our suffering – not ‘out there’.
It’s been challenging for my client to hear this, and to explore it.
But yesterday, she had a significant breakthrough that will transform how she lives and how she impacts the collective field.
That breakthrough came about as a result of our last few sessions where we focused on shifting how she started her day from immediately checking her phone and absorbing and reacting to ‘what’s out there’…
to starting with an hour of practice & intention setting.
That one incremental change in the flow of day meant that instead of instantly being in a reactive space…
She oriented to her CENTRE, to essence nature, and created space for insight and guidance for her day to arise.
Now she’s moving through the day centred and responding.
This is a huge shift, and a big win.
Her experience of reality began to change – how she perceived events with work colleagues for example, and then how she responded to those.
The even bigger win came the morning of our final session. She had been contemplating how much she abhors cruelty, and how her country seems to be acting from cruelty.
Whereas before her relationship to this would be reactive:
I don’t like this, I don’t want this, I can’t believe this is happening, how can they do this, this is so wrong.
Instead, as she contemplated, an insight arose that she wants to embody kindness, and transmute cruelty.
That is who she wants to BE, no matter what it is that she is DOING.
THAT is being a Joy Rebel.
THAT is taking 100% responsible for your experience of Self and life.
THAT is owing your impact and influence on the collective field.
THAT is owning your power and channeling it into the world you want to experience.
I was SO EXCITED for her, because this represents a watershed of moving from outrage at what’s happening out there, to BEING the change.
And who know what the ripple impact will be from this human devoting herself to kindness, and owning and dissolving the cruelty inside of her.
Because that was the other big breakthrough. She could clearly see that cruelty is NOT an ‘out there’ issue. It ALSO resides in her.
She simultaneously owned her darkness, while committing to being the light.
It felt like such a great place to be completing this body of work together.
She’s stepped into her power.
Owned the change she wants to be in the world.
And has the world view, tools and practice required to walk this oath as a Joy Rebel, with Kindness as her main ‘weapon’.
This is the shift that I see we are ALL being asked to make right now.
We need to OWN our power.
Choose the change we want to see in the world and BE that.
And walk this path as a practice, recognizing that when we change and BE, the collective field changes too.
Because yes, POWER that is attached to personal agenda will always seek to serve the appetite of the individual.
But POWER that is attached go BEING of service will seek to serve the needs of the collective.
We ALL have power.
Some of us have disowned it, some of us pretend we don’t have it, some of us our afraid of it…
But we ALL have access to power.
If we want to experience a different world, we need to own and channel that power in the direction of the world we want to see.
When enough of us do that, it will change the flow of the power of personal agenda. That power will no longer happen.
Because what would have happened if the children and teenagers caught in the Epstein web were EMPOWERED enough to know and trust their bodies and their instincts, and take the first safe action to get the f*ck out of that web?
When WE change, the field changes, and less humans will be caught in that kind of web.
What’s YOUR relationship to power?
Do you own the power you have?
Do you act from that power?
Is that power in service to All?
