Can all triggers be healed (digested and dissolved)?

November 9, 2021 //  by Kara-Leah Grant

When I say that, given the right conditions, all triggers can be devoured, digested and dissolved, some people get upset and respond by saying that no, they can’t.

They outline and explain their experience, stating how and why their trigger can not be devoured, digested and dissolved.

This is attachment to triggers.

This is identification with triggers.

And YES, this will mean that the trigger likely won’t be devoured, digested and dissolved.

Because, attachment and identification.

That doesn’t make what I said “wrong” though. Given the right conditions, all triggers can be digested and dissolved.

People who are attached or identified with their triggers often make the mistake of projecting their personal experience on to the world “out there”.

‘I can’t digest this trigger, therefore it’s not possible to digest all triggers.’

This just ain’t true.

All emotional experiences can be fully felt and digested, no matter how painful, given the right support and orientation.

If you want to argue for your special trigger and why it can’t be digested, go ahead. Cling like a motherfucker to that trigger.

I’m not saying that you need to digest and dissolve it. Or that you should digest and dissolve it.

I’m saying it’s possible.

IF YOU WANT TO. If the will is there.

If you want to argue that it’s ‘not possible’… go ahead. Feel free to make that true.

But if you would like to open to the possibility that even THIS awful, painful, deep, challenging trigger COULD be devoured, digested and dissolved…

That’s my invitation to you.

Open to the possibility.

Opening to that possibility will then shine a light on the conditions that need to shift so that the trigger can be digested and dissolved.

If you’ll willing to make those shifts… you might just dissolve that trigger.

And what would that feel like?

NOTE:

I’m using the word “trigger” here to refer to situations when circumstances in the here and now ‘trigger’ emotional pain related to past experience, where the past experience has not yet been fulled healed and resolved. We call these samskaras in Classical tantra.
